Driver's License
Driver's License Information
- New residents have 30 days after establishing residency to obtain an
Alabama driver's license.
- If you have a valid out-of-state license, you only have to take an eye
test and have your Social Security card. If you have no license, you
must also take a written exam and a road test. After testing, license
fees are paid at the county Probate Office.
- Tests are $5 and a 4-year license costs $20.
- A driver's license is valid for four years from the date of purchase.
