By Alabama Law, children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to enter
kindergarten and 6 years old on or before September 1 to enter the first
grade. The following documents are required in order to register:
- certified birth certificate
- immunization records on state forms
- vision, hearing and dental screening records from a family doctor or
local health clinic
- Social Security card
- proof of residency in the school attendance zone
